Airbus A220 Training

A220 type rating training course (TRT), including low visibility training (LVO) and Zero Flight Time Training (ZFTT) as optional simulator sessions, is conducted in a traditional format, comprising theoretical training followed by practical training.

The course consists of following training elements:

  • CBT/WBT accomplished at the customer’s home base (distant learning) or at the training site determined by MTI.
  • Theoretical TRT including Classroom Lectures / Other Training ToolsTheoretical TRT examination according Part-FCL.
  • Theoretical TRT Systems Integration on Flight Training Devices (FTD or FBS).
  • Practical TRT on full flight simulators (FFS) Optional FFS session LVO (stand alone syllabus).
  • Practical TRT skill test on a full flight simulator (FFS), incl. LVO Optional FFS session ZFTT (stand alone syllabus).

This training program uses the term A220 when referring to A220-100 or A220-300. The EASA type rating is BD- 500. Successful completion of this course prepares pilots for the issue of an A220 (BD-500) type rating on their current pilotlicense:

The TRT takes place on the A220 simulator.

Level A familiarization training between the A220-100/300 aircraft in both directions is performed in the form of self-instruction by means of a differences handout (OSD Rev06/01. Apr. 2020; Chapter 6.2).

Level B familiarization training between Build 7.5 and Build 8.0a (OSD Rev06/01. Apr. 2020; Chapter 6.3) is a CBTtraining and required only until the content has been integrated in the A220 Initial Type Rating Training.

Training and checking has to be performed according to the above stated sequence. The next element can only bestarted if the previous training or checking element has been successfully completed.
